Ways of "Rehearsal"

Part of yesterday's session presented ways to help students develop their seed ideas for writing. The seed idea here is about a short moment to be focused on for beginning "writers" to practice how to "scaffold" the main ideas and how to "dig out" details.

As introduced by Celena, the following pictures are about two options to make a structure for and enrich the writing of the seed idea. They are also used for students' "rehearsal" (which is part of the writing processes: Rehearsal >> Draft /Revision >> Further Revision >> Editing >> Publishing).

The four-page booklet made by a piece of folded paper is a convenient option to work with younger children to plan their stories. The booklet, in a typical R&W literacy lesson, is also used for students to "rehearse" their ideas to peers. The process of "rehearsal" will help students enrich their writing structures for the seed idea and gives them the opportunity to "tell" the story before the formal drafting starts.

The above "timeline" is another efficient option to write down ideas on one side and further add details to the other side.
